Katoomba RSL Club continues to be a community minded Club by sponsoring various groups within the Blue Mountains.
It is our pleasure at Katoomba RSL Club to try and help raise money and assist charities and organisations where possible.
This coming Saturday the 24th of March Katoomba RSL will again be hosting an Epilepsy Fund-raiser band night. A number of young musicians and bands gave their time to perform on the night and help raise money for a worthy cause. Raffles will again be conducted consisting of a number of prizes donated by businesses and organisations. Tickets are only $10 available on the door from 6pm.

On 17th of Dec our Club Member’s children and their families enjoyed our annual Kids Christmas Party at the Club. Each child received an age specific present and yummy treats. Santa and his elf were also on hand to spread the cheer. This year was again especially enjoyable for all involved as the Ruby Bloomers Woman’s Circus were there to provide entertainment and an interactive play space for the children to try their hands at hula hooping, juggling and plate spinning. The face painting was also very popular!
Katoomba RSL Club’s Santa and his elf also made their visit to Katoomba hospital to spread cheer to the people of our community who unfortunately spent Christmas in hospital.

Katoomba RSL Club also made Donations during the Aug/Sep/Oct 2011 quarter to the following groups and organisations:

Again in August 2011 Katoomba RSL Club donated $20,873 towards the CDSE scheme in the Blue Mountains which is open to community-based organisations running projects or services in community welfare and social services.

On Sunday the 29th of May the Club was pleased to hold a special fun trivia night organised by Paul Eastment to help raise funds for Can-Assist – Cancer Patients Assistance Network. A big thank you to everyone who came on the night and helped raise awareness and money for this wonderful organisation.

Katoomba RSL Club hosted a Christchurch Quake Relief Fund-raiser on Sunday the 22nd of May. Film maker Brett Williams screened his climbing documentary Beyond the Plains exclusively. Thank you to all who attended. 100% of the ticket profits was donated to the NZ Salvation Army ‘Canterbury Earthquake Appeal.’

Katoomba RSL are proud sponsors of the annual Blue Mountains Music Festival.
The Club is happy to help where possible by providing the space for the event in our ‘Blues Room’ auditorium and carpark. Our financial donations to the organisers this year totalled $5,000 which helps continue to make it such a fabulous event for the Mountains Community and entice visitors to our region.

A number of terrible disasters have occurred across the globe recently and in the last quarter we had collection tins on the bars and in the Club’s reception and a total of $611.20 was raised and donated to QLD Disaster Relief.

On Saturday the 11th of Dec 2010 - 130 of our Club Member’s children and their families had a fun filled Kids Christmas Party at the Club. Every year Katoomba RSL hosts the kids Christmas party where each child receives an age specific present and yummy treats. Santa and his helper Elf are also on hand to spread the cheer. This year was especially enjoyable for all involved as some lovely ladies from the Ruby Bloomers Woman’s Circus were there to provide entertainment and an interactive play space for the children to try their hands at hula hooping, juggling and plate spinning. The face painting was also very popular!
Look out for the registration letter in next year’s mail out as all Members children up to the age of 9 years old are eligible to attend.
In September 2010 Katoomba RSL held a Charity Sports Lunch to raise money for Cancer Assist and the Children’s Ward at Katoomba Hospital. The day featured Darryl “The Big Marn” Brohman, Gary “The Wizz” Freeman and Comedian Ray Segar.
